Their Majesties each need a bard
\nTo accomplish this should not be hard
\nWe have set this day
\nFor this noisy play
\nWith the things you have writ on your card.<\/p>\n
We now give the rules of the thing
\nYou may recite, tell tales or sing
\nNo punching or hitting
\nNor swearing or spitting
\nOr we shall makes you compete into spring.<\/p>\n
There may be a piece you abhor
\nWhich you feel maketh your innards sore
\nIf you’re rude lords and ladies
\nYou’ll be sent straight to hades
\nWhere its Neil diamond filk evermore.<\/p>\n
The first round is period all
\nAbout each piece we’ll tell the hall
\nWe need documentation
\nFor each presentation
\nAnd it’s fine with us though if it’s small..<\/p>\n
In the second round we shall favor
\nA piece the bard’s chosen for flavor
\nYou’ve one six of an hour
\nTo put us in your power
\nAs your fine bardic skills we do savor.<\/p>\n
Round three is their Majesties pick
\nTo the things on your card they should stick
\nBut if the crown wishes
\nThat you sing and do dishes,
\nyou’ll learn what makes your bold liege tick.<\/p>\n
Ere we start, may we briefly advise,
\nThe bard’s life is full of surprise
\nBut we can already tell
\nYou would do the job well
\nAnd to any challenge would rise.<\/p>\n
The bard ought be on at all times
\nTo amuse songs, stories, or rhymes
\nWe must confess
\nThat “your majesty, yes”
\nIs the very best of bardic lines.<\/p>\n
And so as we exit our play
\nWe wish all you well on this day
\nAs you each compete
\nBefore our crown sweet
