oh fly on whitened wing<\/em>
\nyou whose breast does redly stream;<\/em>
\nyou with fiery streaks for all<\/em>
\nwhose devotion shows no seam.<\/em><\/p>\n

lift the load and haul the cart
\nguard the gate and fight the foe
\nteach the weary ones to be empower’d
\nshow the haughty where to go<\/p>\n

build the wall and mend the roof
\nstart the fire and tend the flame
\nlead the lost to the right path
\nhelp the sure to do the same<\/p>\n

cut the wood and smooth the grain
\nplow the ground and sow the seed
\nraise the humble to their heights
\ngrow the little to great deeds.<\/p>\n

This was written on the way to Twelfth Night where I knew Dziuginte <\/em>
\nwas going to receiving her well-deserved Pelican. I wrote this while I flew down to the event, inspired by all that I have seen her do, and the endless, untempered cheer she wears as she does it. (Except when she’s crying at my singing…and even then she’s usually smiling too.) I read this to her at her Vigil.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
