A lord should be steady,

For this morning he fought on the side of the east
\nDefending our men from the fierce western beast
\nBut before the sun crests or the hour has grown dear
\nHe\u2019ll fight for the mid without shedding a tear\u2026.<\/p>\n
He tells all who listen Northshield has his heart
\nIt isn\u2019t quite treason, this perfidious art,
\nFor he is very earnest, this lord sometimes ours
\nAnd he stands with the gumption of thirty one towers.<\/p>\n
I remember distinctly the last war he was in
\nIt seemed to me that he\u2019d spread himself thin
\nHe fought for the Bridge, he fought for the Moon
\nDrank Canadian whiskey and slept until noon.<\/p>\n
He dons tabards of blue, of purple, of gold
\nWe only know it is him by the shield that he holds
\nSoon a flag we will fly from the top of his helm
\nSo he\u2019ll recall who he is as he wanders the realm.<\/p>\n
In the middle of battle came a merry \u201chello\u201d
\nTo which he responded a cheery \u201chey ho\u201d
\nHis shiremates yelled \u201cget him\u201d and get him they did
\nHe had to trade shields so he could stay hid!<\/p>\n
So here is the moral of this little tale
\nA word of advice that never will fail
\nWhen you are a fighter a playing the field,
\nRecall that shires are like ladies, they care not to yield!<\/p>\n
