The tale of the Spring Crown Tournament, AS46, as told by Aneleda Falconbridge,<\/strong>
\n recorded at the request of King Lucan VIII.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Asked Jana, Queen, on morning bright
\nEnter you with good intent
\nTo serve the East with fullest heart
\nshould you to this throne ascend?
\nOver five score answered, Yes.<\/p>\n

Bright the day
\nFierce the sun,
\nFiercer the combat.
\nTygers’ pelts grew soaked with work.<\/p>\n

Consorts sweet called down the bees,
\nEastern flowers fair and soft,
\nswayed beneath the tourney trees in bloom,
\nwhere creatures of all kinds did rest.<\/p>\n

Poles clash, swords swing
\nSome fall to rise again,
\nSome fall and remain.<\/p>\n

Gentle music fills the air
\nto the tattoo of brutal drums.
\nHawks circle in the sun,
\nkeeping carrion birds at bay.<\/p>\n

Come the clouds
\nas wains the day.<\/p>\n

The earth trembles as falling, tumbling
\ncomes the bear
\ncrescents whirl their brightest points,
\nbut are at last torn from the sky.<\/p>\n

Golden lyon meets a dragon azure,
\nof double head. Thunderous roars
\nand jets of flame blaze,
\nbut the lyon’s golden paw stomps the flame,
\nand it is done.<\/p>\n

Now the massive bear approaches,
\nshaking fur, arctic strong.<\/p>\n

Now the lyon paces in,
\ncircling with softest growl,
\nstretching singed paws.<\/p>\n

The sound of their meeting
\nshakes the hills,
\nwaves crash on stillest lakes,
\nstormclouds gather to watch.<\/p>\n

Now ursus, now lyon,
\nnow argent, now or.<\/p>\n

Noble beasts,
\nstrong as forged ore,
\nbravery blinds with brightness.<\/p>\n

Stamping, pawing
\nsteaming in the flashing sun
\naxes glinting, lightning quick.<\/p>\n

The bear takes a blow,
\nwith his last he fights on as though unharmed,
\nbut then a pause,
\na word spoken in honor,
\nyour blow has killed me.<\/p>\n

He bows, then falls,
\nhis silver head pants and hits the earth.<\/p>\n

The lyon honors such a foe,
\na fight worth having, battle bold.
\nThe fallen bear he does salute.<\/p>\n

He now walks to his lioness,
\nin the tall grasses pacing and prowling,
\nprowling and pacing.<\/p>\n

With steady eye he watches her.
\nYour love, he growls in gentle tones,
\nrekindles a fire I thought was lost.<\/p>\n

He takes her gently in his paw,
\npresents his pride and prize
\nto pride and cubs with joy.<\/p>\n

Enter you with good intent
\nTo serve the East with fullest heart
\nshould you to this throne ascend?
\nYes, the lyon and his lady say.<\/p>\n

Lyon gold and tyger blue
\nwe honor fully on this day.
\nI boast, for I was there to see,
\nGregor strong, and Kiena keen,
\ntake the crown and Eastern hearts
\nas prince and princess of the realm.<\/p>\n
