It was inspired by a conversation in which the evocative words, &#8220;It&#8217;s for the love of the blade,&#8221; were uttered. I&#8217;ve been carrying that thought for weeks now, and am glad to finally give it its due.&nbsp; Dedicated to Duelist Devillin MacPherson.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('audio');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-2078-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"https:\/\/mbouchard.com\/misc\/TheDuelist9-2.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/mbouchard.com\/misc\/TheDuelist9-2.mp3\">https:\/\/mbouchard.com\/misc\/TheDuelist9-2.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Duelist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If with a duelist, you should wish to dance<\/strong><br \/><strong>Find a partner, bow, and take your stance.<\/strong><br \/><strong>Though charm seduce you, please believe<\/strong><br \/><strong>The duelist grants no one reprieve<\/strong><br \/><strong>Song of swords is sweetest serenade,&nbsp;<\/strong><br \/><strong>For it\u2019s all done for love \u2013<\/strong><br \/><strong>But that love is the love of the blade.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The duelist at play will surely beguile<br \/>With drama, flair, and an alluring style.<br \/>For honor, glory, they shall ever fight.<br \/>Be wary if you face the duelist\u2019s might.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>**<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approaching challenges with great panache,<br \/>Devoted both to buckler and to swash<br \/>Their wit and dagger are of the sharpest steel,<br \/>When pressed, their deadly eloquence revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>**<br \/>Upon the duelist, you can always rely<br \/>To offer sanctuary or an alibi.<br \/>Every good virtue they will defend.<br \/>Fortunate are you who call one friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>**<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be not cruel or unrefined, untoward \u2013<br \/>Else you release the duelist&#8217;s flashing sword<br \/>Lovers of the blade are keen and clever,<br \/>May the duelists&#8217; fame go forth forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>p.s.  congratulations Muirenn and Caoilfhionn! &lt;3 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Released: September 2, 2022.
