{"id":1445,"date":"2015-01-30T02:13:39","date_gmt":"2015-01-30T02:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mbouchard.com\/aneleda\/?p=1445"},"modified":"2015-01-30T02:13:39","modified_gmt":"2015-01-30T02:13:39","slug":"the-east-kingdom-sing-moar-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbouchard.com\/aneleda\/the-east-kingdom-sing-moar-project","title":{"rendered":"The East Kingdom Sing MOAR Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I found these notes recently in a random file and decided to share them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goal:\u00a0<\/strong>Create a culture of group singing in the East.\u00a0 Create and encourage\u00a0singing opportunities, informal group-sing, and a positive feeling for singing in the SCA for people of all kinds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>DESIRES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">people want to sing<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">group fun singing<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">informal singing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>BARRIERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">geography<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">conflicting activities<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">unfamiliarity with SCA songs<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">different\u00a0versions of songs<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">focus often on individual bards\/performers<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">diverse feelings of competency<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">little time for practice<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">knowing when to sing \/ SCA-appropriate material<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">maybe language barriers<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">inability to read sheet music<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">some physical barriers \/ comfort barriers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SOLUTIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 INCREASE\u00a0<\/span>ACCESS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">website with songs and sheet music<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">youtube vids of people singing<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">CD of common SCA songs<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">book of lyrics \/ sheet music<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>INCREASE\u00a0OPPORTUNITY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\">more music-themed events<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">more choirs (formal\/informal)<\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\">more open performing (\u201cthe call\u201d)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong>THE PLAN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong>Kingdom Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p3\">collect sheet music of easy period stuff and rounds<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">collect &#8220;SCA&#8221; song lyrics<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">have music and lyrics available<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">offer to teach when it&#8217;s convenient for others<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">be approachable, offer often<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">facilitate informal learning situations that aren&#8217;t intimidating<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">encourage casual singing<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">give out lyrics\/music if possible<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">encourage people who do not consider themselves to be singers to join in<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">stress that there&#8217;s no commitment or expectation<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">stress that &#8220;talent&#8221; is not nearly as important as participation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p3\"><strong>Local Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p3\">collect sheet music of easy period stuff and rounds<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">collect &#8220;SCA&#8221;
