On Semantics<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Philosophers may lounge in smokey dens
\nImbibing wisdom \u2018neath a flowing cask
\nWhile by the wordy fires at length hey bask.
\nO they could speak \u2018till God made dry the fens
\nwhilst multiplying arguments by tens
\ndisguising fears. The words serve as a mask
\no\u2019er questions Art herself might take to task
\ncould she but see those blots from inky pens.<\/p>\n

Yet of their many words none do describe
\nthe spirt nor the method of my art –
\nhow once in sylvan glen the warriors wept,
\nwhy bitter, broken love sent forth the gibe,
\nwhen music did make whole the wounded heart,
\nor other moments that my song hath kept.<\/p>\n

The Art Garden<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I stumbled once upon a garden large.
\nTwas bordered by a gate of iron wrought
\nWell-craft about with many creatures charge\u2019d
\nFor rampant, sleeping, dancing were they caught.<\/p>\n

\u2019Twas quick apparent its creator thought
\nHis garden more enriched by many flowers
\nSome bloom\u2019ed wild but others had been taught
\nto grow and flourish on the ancient bowers.<\/p>\n

Bold blossoms brought the eye to note the towers
\nUntam’ed ones cavorted at their base
\nTo note them all one need wander for hours
\nEach stem did have its own distinctive grace.<\/p>\n

A garden perfect requires many parts.
\nHow so akin to flowers are the arts!<\/p>\n

A challenge had been posted that any of us currently “in discussion” about what it meant to be a “bard” or what “bardic arts” included or did not include, was to write a sonnet on the matter as a means of, I suppose, putting our money where our mouths are.
