Come again, sweet love – hey that’s enough!
\nYou’ll fall off it again!
\nI think, thank God you’re tough!
\nI sit, I sigh, I weep, I’m sure, you’ll die
\nIn deadly pain before your next birthday!<\/p>\n

Come away! No! Do not touch that thing!
\nNo stove, stairs or shelves…
\nLet go or mum will sting!
\nDon’t touch, don’t grab, don’t eat, don’t throw, don’t whine –
\nTo bed you’ll go, until the end of time!<\/p>\n

Cut it out! I told you once before!
\nThat food is not a toy –
\nYou won’t get any more!
\nTo squish, to mush, to pour, to mess, to throw,
\ninto a pile, a laying-on the floor.<\/p>\n

HEY! Get down! Do not stand on that chair!
\nPut those feet on the floor
\nWhile mum repeats her prayer:
\nDear God, l breathe, in once, and count, to ten
\nBefore I sell this child to Gypsy men.<\/p>\n

On the floor, you laugh here while I sing,
\nthen you run toward the stairs
\nknowing at you I’ll fling,
\nyou stomp, you grin, I grab, you reach, you can’t
\nFor I have you now by the back of your pants!<\/p>\n

Come again! Lay your head on my knee.
\nYou seem to know it works –
\nYou smile at mum with glee
\nI sit, I sigh, I shake my head, and smile.
\nYou drool on me, then play alone a while.<\/p>\n

Quiet now. Mum does not like the sound,
\nIt comes to nothing good
\nWhen noise is not around
\nAnd then, mum hears- a splash! Away to rush,
\nFor that’s the sound of fingers in the flush!<\/p>\n

Come again, sweet love – hey that’s enough!
\nYou’ll fall off it again!
\nI think, thank God you’re tough!
\nI sit, I sigh, I weep, I’m sure, you’ll die
\nIn deadly pain before your next birthday!<\/p>\n

So, we we having kind of “a day” here with the wee Falconbridge Milkdrinker, and for some reason, while I repeated “DON’T” for about the ten-thousandth time, John Dowland came to mind. So, I beg his forgiveness and that of his gravekeeper who will certainly have to trample down the sod over his resting place.<\/em><\/p>\n

\n tune for those who don’t know it. This version, unlike Dowland’s, has<\/em>
\n 8 verses. Dowland only has 6. This was likely because he had no kids.<\/em><\/p>\n
